Participatory Investment Instrument


An instrument (or an account) that is held by an investor/ investment accountholder (e.g., depositor of funds) under a profit or loss sharing (or taking) arrangement such as mudaraba or musharaka, representing amounts of money received by an entity (an investee) to be invested on behalf of the investor/ accountholder with or without conditions as to way of investing.

The holder of the instrument/ accountholder is entitled to a share in the profits/ losses as well as any residual interest in the underlying assets (funded by the amounts invested).
