Current Operating Profit

The operating profit that constitutes the excess of the current value of an entity’s output (products and services provided) sold to customers over the current cost of the input used in the operations (process). Differently stated, it is the difference between an entity’s operating profit and other operating income and charges. Current operating profit (i.e.., EBIT) consists of current gross operating profit (the so-called, EBITDA) as well as contributions and write-offs from items such as depreciation/ amortization (non-cash items) and provisions.

In addition to realizable holding gain, current operating profit is the other component of a measure known as the current value income.
