Notional Asset


An asset that meets the criteria of fixed assets but cannot be physically tagged due to its sensitive features, size, use, location, etc. Examples include surgical instruments, probes used in X-Ray machines, books, manuscripts, lenses, microscopes, scoreboards, etc.

Such assets could be harmed by the tag or restricted by the size of the item.

It is also known as a non-taggable asset.
