Voting Stock


A type of stock that grants the shareholder the right to vote on certain company issues and resolutions. For example, the holder of a voting stock is entitled to vote in the election of directors. With respect to any entity that is not a corporation, such as stock represents an equity interest that is entitled to vote in the election of the governing body of that entity.

There are other classes of shares, such as preferred stock, that don’t allow for voting rights.
