Downtick Volume

The trading volume that occurs on downticks. In other words, it refers to the trading volume when stock prices decrease, reflecting excessive supply of sellers and consequently driving the stock lower. For example, the volume of a security that trades at a price lower than its immediately prior price is a downtick volume.

An downtick volume may also occur when the previous tick was down and the current tick volume is unchanged.
