Downside Trend

A trend (extended or persistent movement in a certain direction) that represents a decrease in market prices over time, or from period to period. If a market is in a downside trend, the value of stocks, in general, or an index is going down over time.

In general, any market variable may show or experience a downside trend including stock prices, commodity prices, key economic indicators (e.g., inflation), and so on.

The opposite of a downside trend is an upside trend.
