Primary Market Trend


An elongated period within a market cycle during which prices follow an uptrend or an downtrend before peaking out, reversing and staging an opposite trend. A primary market trend can last from several months (typically nine months) and up to two years. It has broad support throughout the broad market and and comprises a series of secondary market trends. This trend reflects investor’s attitudes toward latest fundamentals in the business cycles. A bull market is is an upward primary market trend and a bear market is a downward primary market trend.
