A variant of range option which was developed by the Swiss Banking Corporation. It could have also be given another telling name: a hoarding option. A hamster option allows the holder to hoard any fixed payout he receives for every day the underlying asset sticks to, or remains in, a pre-determined range. The option holder cannot lose what he already gained or hoarded. In this sense, this option is quite similar to a ratchet option (ladder option or cliquet option).
