Asset Redeployment


The reallocation of a firm’s idle or underused assets to more productive/ profitable uses. The redeployment process involves the sale of a relatively unprofitable units/ divisions/ subsidiaries, and then using the proceeds to support or solidify other parts of its operations. Asset redeployment is a strategy that firms resort to in declining markets/ industry in an attempt to redirect capital (and assets) to better performing sectors.

In the context of corporate takeovers, plans may involve asset redeployment once an acquisition has been finalized.
