A stock that is traded on a major or regional exchange (organized exchange) such as the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), NASDAQ, the American Stock Exchange, Tokyo Stock Exchange, etc. The price of a listed stock is quoted on a stock exchange, where it can be bought and sold by investors. To be listed on an exchange, companies must pay fees and abide by to the rules and regulations of the exchange.
It is also known as an exchange-traded stock.
