Quote-Driven Market


A market that is controlled by market makers or dealers in the sense that prices of securities are determined through quotes provided by them, and they solely can influence prices to adjust with relative supply and demand. Any market participant trading via such a market must approach through a market maker or dealer for execution, but not ordinary traders. Market makers or dealers provide firm bid-ask prices to traders before orders are submitted.
