Before The Opening Bell


The period of time that precedes the beginning of the formal trading day in an exchange. In other words, it is any period of time before an exchange regularly opens for trading. It is often used to imply trading that takes place before the exchanges opens for normal daily trading hours in a security or other types of assets (commodities, derivatives, etc).

Some companies schedule particular news releases and earning announcements before the bell.
