Arabic (مصلحة عامة) for public good or public benefit or public interest. According to shari’ah, all economic activities should take into consideration an important part of maqasid al-shari’ah (مقاصد الشريعة), i.e., attainment and protection of the interests of the broader community or ummah at large.
