A type of share capital (specifically, authorized capital) that constitutes shares that have been issued by an entity to its shareholders (owners). It represents the total capital issued and raised by an entity out of the total authorized capital.
Issued capital is the nominal – rather than actual – value of that part of the share capital that has been issued to shareholders. It cannot exceed the authorized capital in any situation.
Issued capital is also issued share capital, outstanding shares or shares outstanding.
