A liquid yield option note (LYON) whose principal amount was tied to the performance of the NYSE Composite Index. This note featured a cash settlement conversion right linked to the performance of an index (or even a particular stock).

Indexed LYONs were introduced by Merrill Lynch in the second half of the 1980s.
