Fallen out of Bed

A situation in which a stock price drops sharply, usually as a result of unfavorable news or developments concerning the issuing company. For instance, a stock would fall out of bed should the issuing company’s earnings decrease below expected levels or if management is found to be involved in scandalous dealings or practices.

Other developments with negative impact may also give rise to such a situation.
