Round-Trip Commission

The total commission costs for both sides of a trade: the sell order and the buy order. These costs are associated with buying or opening a position (long position) and also selling or closing that same position (short position). Brokers charge a round-trip commission regardless of whether the trader ultimately closes out the contract, makes or takes delivery, or makes a cash settlement.

Round-trip commissions are typically calculated per contract or share.
