An investor who trades in less than 100 share units or an odd lot (also board lot). Actions of odd lotters are often used as a contrary index by technicians– when odd lotters are purchasing, the market is typically predicted to go down, and vice versa. In other words, if odd-lot purchases exceed odd-lot sales, the market is going to decline, and in the opposite case, the market is going to go up.
