Bull Steepener


The widening of the yield curve which results from short-term interest rates increasing at a faster pace than long-term interest rates. This causes a steepening of the yield curve. For example, a bull steepener case occurs when 2-year yields rise faster than 10-year yields. This is usual when investors are optimistic or bullish about stock prices over the short-term.

Bull steepeners have a positive premium at inception.
