Financial Promotion


An effort which is exerted by a bank or financial institution in order to promote business or products. Financial promotions take many forms including newspaper advertisements, websites, emails, face-to-face or telephone conversations, sponsorship of local sport clubs, etc. A promotion that only contains the commercial name, a logo, a contract point, or a short factual description of the firm’s main business, is usually exempt from rules governing financial promotions.

Financial promotions are typically classified as real-time promotions and non-real-time promotions.
