Franked Dividend

In Australia, it refers to a dividend on which a company has paid tax (on behalf of shareholders). Typically, recipients of this dividend may get “franking” credits against their own taxes payable on this dividend.

A franked dividend receipt is similar to a salary or wage that is net of taxes. The franking credit is equivalent to the tax that is deducted from an earner’s gross pay.
