Sukuk-Holder


An investor, natural or legal person, that bears the certificate of sukuk entailing ownership (ownership stake) in the underlying assets (asset or non-business sukuk) or business (for business sukuk) as defined under the specific category of sukuk (based on the type of sukuk and the mode(s) of underlying contract- e.g., murabaha, mudaraba, musharaka, salam, etc.)

The sukuk-holder owns an undivided share(s) in tangible assets, usufruct, and/ or services, or in the assets of a particular projects or special investment activities (business). Depending on the type of sukuk, the sukuk-holder receives a return out of the proceeds or profits generated from the underlying assets of sukuk, over a specific period of time.
