Shari’a takes center stage of Islam, as a religion, as it defines the route Muslims have to follow in matters of religious ritual and every aspect of economic, political, social, and personal life. It is derived primarily from two main sources: the Quran and the Sunnah. The first source of shari’a- the Quran- is the actual word of Allah revealed to His Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) through oracle (wahi- the Angel Gabriel). The Sunnah, the second source of shari’a (figuratively speaking, shari’a in action) is the authentic traditions and sayings of the Prophet, as collected by specialists in Hadith.
