Arabic (عزيمة) for strictness and resoluteness in the implementation or practice of shari’ah rules (ahkam), prescriptions, ordinances, etc. In other words, it is rigorous commitment to obligations, whether worship-related (ibadah) and transactional (muamalat). By nature, ‘azimah (sing. of ‘aza’em) requires personal resolve to undergo hardships without seeking relief or dispensation or permission (special exceptions).

Azimah is typically the character of those who are resolute in their belief and practice of legal injunctions regardless of the permissions (exceptions) given to them under certain conditions (such as age, illness, disability, force majeure, etc).
