Current Asset


An asset that can be converted into cash or used to pay current liabilities within one year or during a firm’s operating cycle. In addition to cash, current assets include marketable securities, short-term investments, accounts receivable, inventory, and prepaid expenses. On a typical balance sheet, current assets are shown on the left-hand side along with long-term assets.
