Accelerated Vesting


An option that a company offers to an employee in a stock ownership (stock purchase or stock option agreement) or retirement plan, conferring on that employee the right to enjoy benefits at a faster rate than the initial vesting schedule. Accelerated vesting can be applied on part, or all, of the unvested shares or stock options. The most popular types of accelerated vesting are “single trigger” and “double trigger” acceleration.
