Qabd Haqiqi

An Arabic term (قبض حقيقي) that means taking actual possession of an object of sale or exchange, an amount of money, a financial instrument, etc. In the context of a contract of sarf (currency exchange), qabd haqiqi refers to taking possession, by the two parties, of the amounts of the two underlying currencies, in an actual manner (physically). In currency exchange, qabd haqiqi (physical possession) involves taking possession by means of simultaneous delivery by hand (i.e., qabd haqiqi against qabd haqiqi- or simultaneous, physical taqabud).

Qabd, in general, is classified as qabd haqiqi (qabd feeli) and qabd hukmi.
