An Arabic term (مخرج شرعي) for shari’ah-compliant alternatives or solutions or way-out to come around a prohibition or a deadlock situtaion or issue. An example is Islamic derivatives which constitute a makhraj or way-out designed to come around the impermissibility of conventional derivatives in a shari’ah-compliant way.
In that sense, makhraj, as opposed to hilah, is seen as an exit tactic that is practical and shari’ah-compliant.
