An Islamic measure of weight (also, uqiyyah; in Arabic script أوقية) that is equal to 8 mithqal (mathaqeel) or 40 dirhams. According to Hanafis, an awqiyyah approximately weights 200.8 grams. This version of awqiyyah is known as awqiyyah shar’eyyah (الأوقية الشرعية) as it was used in Makkah (Mecca) at the advent of Islam and thereafter.

As a rule of thumb, the exact weight of awqiyyah varies according to the type of material being weighted: in except of cases other than gold and silver, an awqiyyah weights 40 dirhams (equivalent to 127 grams). For gold, it is equal to 29.75 grams and for silver 119 grams.
