A private equity fund in which the funder is the parent company. In other words, a parent company or sponsor, such as a bank or an insurance firm, contributes all the capital for investment. Therefore, the management company of the fund is typically a subsidiary wholly owned by the parent company. Captive private equity funds invest in target ventures, following financially and strategically driven missions and objectives. Such funds are very often act as window of technology for their parents. They embrace new trends early in a specific technology and capitalize on it.
