Short Option


A short position in an option whereby the position holder has the right, but not the obligation, to trade an underlying asset or derivative product at a specific price level for a specific period of time and for a specific price (the premium).

A short option may involve a call option (so it is a short call option) or a put option (hence it is a short put option).
