The period of time during which a bond (callable bond) cannot be called by the issuer. This period varies according to the economic sector in which the bond issuer operates. For example, it is five years for issues of utilities and ten years for industrial issues. In this sense, the bond is a noncallable bond from inception until the call deferment period has expired, then it becomes callable.
