Bond Par Value


The stated face value of a bond. For illustrative purposes, the par value is assumed to be $1,000, although any multiple of $1,000 can be used (e.g., $5,000, $10,000, etc). In general, this value represents the amount of money the bond’s issuer borrows from investors and promises to repay on the maturity date.
