A crossing platform that handles flows from sell-side firms and highly sophisticated funds. Basically, it is run by a hedge fund or electronic market makers (collectively known as sponsors) that apply “black box” trading strategies. The ping venue only process immediate-or-cancel orders placed by sell-side clients, using the sponsor’s own liquidity. Criteria of acceptance or rejection of orders are set by the platform/ venue.
