Hot Issue


An initial public offering (IPO) in which demand for issued securities exceeds supply. A hot issue IPO is an offering whose price increases immediately on the effective date of trading. Hot issue offerings are usually made by notable and high-profile firms.

The opposite of a hot issue is a break issue (broken IPO).
