An algo (algorithm) that seeks out filling and posting orders into the day’s close in order to secure a price better than the closing price (lower price for buy orders and higher price for sell orders). In other words, close algorithms concentrate market trading to just prior to the close which is usually the most active period of trading in a typical business day.
