Short Synthetic Futures


A synthetic futures which consists of a short call and a long put:

Short synthetic futures position = short call + long put

In other words, it involves selling calls and buying the same number of puts with the same strike price and expiration date. This structure effectively makes up the same risk profile of shorting a stock but with no net credit.

It is also called a synthetic short futures.
