Deferred Start Swap


A swap which initiates at a forward start date. The fixed rate of the swap is agreed upon at the contract date (trade date), while exchange of payments starts at a preset future date. Deferred start swaps are mainly used as a hedge against future loans (borrowed funds).

It is also known as a forward commencement swap or a deferred swap or a forward swap.
