A group of associated, but not necessarily equity-related, firms (businesses) that offer complementary products (products that match or complement each other), by means of an agreement or arrangement to that effect. It constitutes an established platform that connects firms in different sectors with each other to the benefit of all parties involved.

Examples of affiliate networks include publishers- i..e., affiliate marketers or advertisers– with branded firms or products. Other examples are accredited or preferred provider programmes, such as the vehicle insurance provider that specifically deals with a preferred maintenance outlet to the effect of offering additional, gratis services or reduced rates.
