Call Warrant


A warrant that gives its holder the right, without the obligation, to purchase the underlying asset (security) from the issuer for a specific price on or before a certain date. A call warrant is similar to a call option held by a limited group of individuals. However, these warrants are usually issued by firms seeking additional capital.

An investor would buy a call warrant if the market price of the underlying is expected to trade above the exercise price.
